How a Rug Transforms a Room

Our favorite thing about our home is that the large majority of the house is hardwood. With pets and every day messes, it was a welcomed change from our questionable carpeted apartment. And we love area rugs so we were super excited to start shopping for them. We quickly got our area rug for our main bedroom because our cat absolutely struggled to hop on and off bed without slipping or bobbing her nose on the floor. That one was easy, just went to a handful of Homegoods and landed on one within a weekend. Our living room…was a completely different story.

Almost a year after purchasing our home we FINALLY found the rug of our dreams. We were looking for one that was about 9x12ft, neutral color, something of a pattern, and not $1000. Behold, our new favorite thing!

Things that we love:

  1. The color is perfect against our white sofa and will look with our soon to be white paneled walls.
  2. Soft on the toes.
  3. The pile height in the pattern is dramatic, but gives a subtle floral design.
  4. It is wool! Not synthetic!

We purchased our rug from Birch Lane and with free shipping over $35, we were sold from the get go. The Naomi rug, again, is the perfect creamy ivory that has been our new favorite purchase that we rave about almost daily. It is shedding a bit right now since it is very new but has not been a problem at all. If our review isn’t enough to sell you, the review gallery is full of great pictures to show you how the rug looks in all sorts of styled rooms.

Thanks for following along! I know a rug purchase may not sound so exciting but really, it has made our living room our favorite spot to be in right now. Especially as we head into the cooler months, a warm rug on the toes will make for a very happy household. And if there is one thing you take away from this, please just take your time when picking out a rug. They are for sure an investment and deserve a good bit of research. We know now that the first spot we’ll go to when looking for other rugs in our home will be Birch Lane.
